We are listening

Earlier this year we posted a link to a survey so we could determine what our local LIS community wanted. Thank you for taking the time to complete the survey.

The results of this have now been collated, and are summarised here for your information.

Our thoughts:

It’s fantastic to see that many of you are ALIA members and attending ALIA events!

Overwhelmingly, we can see that you would like guest speakers, conference report back sessions and social events. In response to this we will be organising conference report back sessions for ALIA Biennial, NLS6 and ALIA Online. Watch this space for more details. If you are heading to these conferences, and might be interested in sharing your thoughts with envious colleagues, please let us know!

Guest speakers and workshops are also something we’d love to do more of too. To cater to your needs, suggestions for such events are appreciated.

As to social events, we are in the very early stages of organising an event to celebrate the 75^th anniversary of ALIA. We’ll provide more details on this closer to the date.

Given the responses to the best times to hold events, it’s likely that we’ll stick to Tuesday or Wednesday nights. If you attend the ALIA New Grads/RIMPA events you’ll note they rotate Tuesday to Wednesday to Thursday to enable a variety of people to attend.
